Azerbaijani canoeist claims 4th European crown

Azerbaijan`s Valentin Demyanenko has paddled to a first place finish in the 200m C1 men`s final race in the European Kayak and Canoe Flatwater Championship in Zagreb, Croatia, to claim his fourth European gold.

Azerbaijan`s Olympic hopeful, Demyanenko timed 38.752 seconds to leave behind Spaniard Alfonso Benavides (38.968 seconds) and Lithuanian Eugene Shuklin (39.060 seconds). Apart from three previous European golds, Demyanenko, 29, is a three-time world champion.
