Per capita health spending stands at AZN 19

Azerbaijan's per capita health spending rose to AZN 19 million in 2006, 2.5 times higher than the previous year, Ziyad Samadov, chair of the parliament commission for economic policy, told a parliament session on Friday.

He added that healthcare spending accounts for 4.3% of the budget expenditures, APA reports.

"This goes to capacity building, free health services and other problems," he noted.

The 2006 budget earmarked AZN 182.799 million for healthcare, of which AZN 34.422 million for policlinics and outpatient clinics, AZN 123.543 million for hospitals, AZN 14.175 for other services in health sector, AZN 1.726 million for medical research works and AZN 8.931 for other medical services.
