Armenian footballer nabbed after phone theft

An Armenian footballer will be sentenced this afternoon after pleading guilty to stealing a mobile telephone from a car in Oroklini.

The 29-year old thief is in Cyprus with the Armenian national football squad, who are conducting a training session on the island.

He was spotted stealing the phone after police checked tapes of a CCTV camera, which caught the incident. Reports say he stole the phone whilst wearing the tracksuit of the national football squad.

The phone has a value of 1,000 euros.
