Abulfaz Garayev: "We have candidate to TURKSOY leadership"

He said that no real proposals exist for new chairman.

"I consider that we should discuss the issue at the meeting on Dec 18-19, Ankara. We will probably think to choose new chairman there. The election to the post is held every two years. The highest body of TURKSOY is Cultural Ministers' Assembly. The assembly cannot always be in one country. General Secretary should be executive body, the person who can lead all the actions," he said.

The minister rejected the information about his standing for elections.

"I cannot work there, because I am the minister of culture and tourism in Azerbaijan and satisfied with my salary. So, we think of another candidate from Azerbaijan. Candidate to this post should be profound in cultural field in CIS and TURKSOY countries. We have such candidate but I will not announce his name," he noted.

The next conference of TURKSOY will be held in Ankara on Dec 18-19. Election of a new General Secretary is on the agenda.
