Baku to host conference & training "Democratic security sector management: defense"

Conference and training on "Democratic management of security sector: defense" will be held by the support of Azerbaijan National and International Studies Center (ANIRC) and Netherlands's Center of European Security Studies (CESS).

The conference & training will be held in the framework of the CESS's STARLINK program, ANIRC chief Leyla Aliyeva told the APA.

Representatives from Azerbaijani military and security bodies, state officials, parliamentarians, NGOs' representatives and international security experts are expected to attend the conference.

"Reforming defense system and democratic control over security sector in Azerbaijan," "Relations between Azerbaijan and NATO: PfP as means of cooperation and reform," "Structure and culture of security system," "Right management of Security Sector," "Security Sector in Democratic society" and "Rights and freedoms of defense personnel" will be discussed at the conference.

The executive director of Netherlands's Center of European Security Studies Sami Faltas, vise-speaker of Milli Majlis Ziyafet Asgarov, former Defense Minister of the Netherlands, parliamentarian Vim van Eeckelenin, NATO Coordinator to Azerbaijan Lorenz Meyer-Minnemann, former chief of Hungarian Armed Forces Staff Zoltan Szenes and others are expected to attend the conference.
