AFFA gets top football bodies' approval for Branimir Subasic

Head coach Shahin Diniyev told APA-Sport that international organizations had permitted to field Subasic in the national team of Azerbaijan. The coach said in their letters the FIFA and the UEFA had noted that forward's participation in the national squad doesn't contradict the law.

"We try to act by the law. We have appealed both organizations taking into consideration that some legionaries used to play in underage squads of their countries. They have permitted all legionaries as well as Subasic to play in the Azeri squad. Our team might be punished in the future if we hadn't solved the issue on legionaries," he said.

Two of 10 denized legionaries, namely Ukrainian Aleksandr Chertoganov and Serbian Branimir Subasic used to play in the underage squads of their countries.
