Yeni Musavat's chief editor Rauf Arifoglu goes on hunger strike

The chief editor of the Yeni Musavat newspaper Rauf Arifoglu has gone on hunger strike in support of Ganimat Zahid.
According to Rauf Arifoglu, the hunger strike aims to draw attention of the world community to the shortcomings in the media field of Azerbaijan.

He said  an official of the Yeni Musavat newspaper Ayten Gasanov and the chief editor of the Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Shahveled Chobanoglu, also joined the activity.

It should be noted that the number of reporters who joined the hunger strike in support of Ganimat Zahid reached 4. These are the abovementioned people and the chief editor of the 24 saat newspaper Fikret Faramazoglu.

By the resolution of the Yasamal district court, G.Zahid  was imprisoned for two months and the Baku Court of Appeal  pronounced the same judgement. G.Zahid is charged with Article 221 (Hooliganism) and Article 127 (causing premediated damage to human health) of the Criminal Code.
