Azadlyg newspaper to file claim to European court of Human Rights

The due information has been provided by defender Rashid Gadjili.

He said the claim indicates the restriction of freedom of speech and demand for compensation.

it should be reminded that member of the Yeni Azerbaijan party Yagub Aliyev filed a claim against articles published in the newspaper in October of 2006.

The Sabail district court passed a decision on the payment of compensation in the amount of AZN 20,000 to the plaintiff in October of 2006.

An appeal was submitted  against the decision of the first court to the Appellate court which declined it in February  of 2007.

Thus, the claim was further filed to the Supreme Court in July of 2007, which was not granted as well.
