The due announcement was made by Novosti-Azerbaijan with reference to Saadat Bananyarli, member of the Monitoring Committee on Human Rights of Azerbaijan.
"President of Azerbaijan is likely to pass a decree of pardon before Novruz Holiday. Other forms of releasing imprisoned reporters and political prisoners are also possible. This issue is in the competence of the head of state.
A session of the OSCE Monitoring Committee will be held on March 13 to discuss commitments undertaken by Azerbaijan before the Council of Europe, in particular, in the sphere of human rights and rights of political prisoners. A report of the PACE co-rapporteurs Andres Herkel and Eugenia Zhivkova on Azerbaijan will be discussed on March 18", Bananyarli noted.
She considers that the decree of pardon should be adopted before Novruz holiday, otherwise, Azerbaijan's state will deteriorate.
Saadat Bananyarli also added that a regular session of the work group for political prisoners to discuss problems of imprisoned reporters and political prisoners is expected to be held on March 3.
It should be reminded that the last decree of pardon to pardon 106 prisoners was passed in late December of 2007.
