Iranian ambassador demanded to respond for disrespectful attitude to Khojaly tragedy

04 March 2008 [14:57] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani parliamentarians demand to call the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan to Milli Medjlis due to the prohibition of Iranian authorities to hold anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.

"The parliament should seriously undertake the issues of disrespect, demonstrated to the Azerbaijani ambassador to Iran, as well as imprisonment of 30 Azerbaijanis, who intended to honor the memory of Khojaly tragedy in Iran".

The due announcement was made by MP Gudrat Gasanguliyev, at a session of the parliament. He suggested to hold a special hearing in the framework of the commission for international relations.

"Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry should inform the organization of Islamic Conference about the actions against our ambassador in Iran. Moreover, we must demand the release of imprisoned Azerbaijanis", Gasanguliyev said.

He was supported by MP Ganira Pashayeva, who proposed to call the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan to the parliament and express displeasure on behalf of the Azerbaijani people.

Speaker Oqtay Asadov promised to discuss the issue with Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.
