African fever virus terminated completely in Azerbaijan

The residents of Nij village of Qabala, Azerbaijan, whose pigs were killed due to African fever, will get a compensation in the amount of AZN 1,265,000.
The due announcement was made by Yolchu Khanveli, spokesman for the State Veterinary Service under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture.

He said 4,863 pigs were killed in the farms of 378 families.

"The enclosures, where pigs were kept, were destroyed and fired during quarantine and disinfection was carried out in the pigsties and the  adjacent areas. Over 300 tons of disinfection facilities were used for the purpose", Khanveli noted.

He said the compensation in the amount of AZN 1,265,000 is intended for 378 families.

"The African fever virus has been terminated completely in Azerbaijan", Khanveli noted.

It should be noted that the African fever virus was revealed in Azerbaijan on January 28 for the first time.
