Baku Appellate Court to consider appeal of imprisoned editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper

The due announcement was made by a source from the Court.

According to the source, the case was transferred for consideration to judge Abid Abdinbekov.

Toiching upon the date of the consideration, the source noted that the date has not been specified yet.

Thus, the appeal states violation of articles 5 and 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights and the need to pass the verdict of not guilty and repay a compensation to the journalist.

It should be noted that the Yasamal district court of Baku, chaired by Sudaba Mamedova, passed a decision regarding the editor-in-chief of the Azadlyg newspaer and Baku resident Vugar Hasanov on March 7.

In line with the verdict, Ganimat Zahid was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment and Vusal Hasanov to 1.5 years.
