Verdict passed on Azerbaijani army officers, misappropriating AZN 1,940,000 of state funds

Yesterday the Military Collegium of the Court of Grave crimes presided by Mirali Abbasov completed the trial on the case of former chief of the lubricants service of air forces, colonel Mehdi Abbasov, former commander of N military part, locating in Shamkir, colonel-leutenant Arzu Ibrahimov and other 14 senior officers of the Defense Ministry.

According to Zerkalo, the aforementioned people are accused of misappropriation of else's belongings. In line with the materials of the criminal case, Arzu Ibrahimov, Mehdi Abbasov and other officers engaged in illegal sale of lubricants of the military part. On the whole, they misappropriated AZN 1,940,000 of state assets.

Under the verdict of the court, Arzu Ibrahimov is sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment, Valeh Gasymov to 5 years and Sakit Aliyev to 1.5 years of imprisonment. But as the term of Aliyev's imprisonment expired in the period of investigation, he was released in the court hall. Mehdi Abbasov was sentenced to one year of trial, Altay Mamedov, Tair Safarov, Rizvan Bayramov and Emin Aliyev to 2 years of the conditional term, Ilgar Safarov and Fizuli Veliyev to one year conditionally.

Moreover, Nadir Qabilov and Amiraslan Hasanov were fined with 2000 standard units, Akif Bayramov, Ayaz Aghayev 1000 standard units and Vasif Suleymanov 500 standard units.
