Appellate Court considering case of officers, accused of reducing a soldier to suicide

The appeals of former commander of the N military part Elkhan Huseynov and two other people, convicted together with him, who were not satisfied with the sentence of the Military Collegium of the Court of Grave Crimes was considered yesterday in the Appellate Court of the Shirvan region (former Alibayramli).

E.Huseynov's defender Adil Ismaylov told ANS Press that the court did not grant the appeal and upheld the decision of the Military collegium of the Court of Grave Crimes.

It should be reminded that by decision of the aforementioned court instance Huseynov was sentenced to 10 years, former commander of the third rifle military part, mahor Elshan Aliyev and former chief of the staff and disciplinary part Rufulla Hashimov were sentenced to four years of imprisonment. They were found guilty under the article of reducing to suicide.

Soldier Teymur Ismailov, who served in the division, commanded by Huseynov, committed suicide.

It should be noted that criminal case was instituted towards Huseynov under article 311 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, which was taken for a separate consideration. The Military Prosecutor's Office has recently completed investigation on the said case and its materials were transferred to the Military collegium of the Court of Grave Crimes. The hearing will start on May 19.
