Baku Appellate Court not granting appeal of political scientist Rovshan Novruzoghlu

The Baku Appellate Court considered today the appeal of director of the Center for War with Terror and Corruption Rovshan Novruzoghlu, filed against the verdict of the Azerbaijani Court of Grave Crimes, reports the source of the Appellate Court.

Thus, the Appellate Court considered the file claimed by Novruzoghlu unfounded and passed a decision to upheld the first instance verdict. The claim states the need to pass the verdict of not guilty.

The court was presided by judge Rizvan Safarov.

It should be noted that the Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Novruzoghlu to 4 years in prison.

He was charged under articles 320.1 (falsification of identity card or any official document, certifying rights or released from responsibilities), 320.2 (deliberate use of false documents) and 310 (abuse of powers) of the Criminal Code on the basis of the appeal of the Baku mayor's office to Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's office.

The Baku Nasimi district court has chosen the preventive measure in a form of a two day arrest, later the term was twice prolonged for a month.
